The South African online space has skyrocketed since 2007, the year PayFast was founded. We are all riding a hugely exciting wave, one that has been set in motion by a wonderful industry of online merchants: businesses, individuals and charities. With over 30,000 receiving accounts registered with PayFast, trusting us with their payment needs, we continue to be the online payment processor of choice for South African sellers, large and small. Our customers range from independent sole proprietors to large companies with hundreds of personnel. We continuously try to reduce the friction in accepting online payments: sellers don’t require merchant accounts to accept credit cards with PayFast and we allow them to get up and running in as little as eight business hours. We have some of the tightest security measures in the industry –more so than a lot of banks—and we spend an immense amount of resources in fighting online fraud and keeping both buyers and sellers safe from abuse. PayFast is a big supporter of local startups and we’re proudly involved in various meetups, hackathons, conferences, tech and charitable events. We provide resources worth tens of thousands of rand to charities each year to assist them with their online fundraising efforts. We’re always looking for new ways to help connect buyers with sellers and donors with charities. This is done by continuously adding new payment methods for our sellers on a variety of payment platforms, forever looking at making online sales easier, faster and more secure.
