Oracle Manipulation

Oracle manipulation, also known as oracle price manipulation, is a popular vulnerability in the DeFi sector where attackers alter an Oracle smart contract, resulting in system failure, theft, and other damages. According to reports, DeFi networks lost more than $33 million in 2020 alone as a result of pricing oracle manipulation.

Oracles are independent service providers who provide external or real-world data that offer blockchains, such as price feeds, weather reports, statistics, etc. Since they enable thieves to steal millions of dollars from DeFi platforms, price feeds are by far the most exploited oracle data.
