Adam Back is a British cryptographer, cypherpunk, and founder of Blockstream. Hashcash, a technology he created, is used to mine Bitcoins.
He holds a doctorate in computer science from Exeter University with a focus on distributed systems. Adam is a traditional cypherpunk, a supporter of encryption technologies, and has a history of activism in the area of digital currency dating back to the 1990s. His accomplishments include his mastery of the C++ programming language and his collaboration with David Chaum. One interesting fact about him: Adam was one of the first two persons to ever hear from Satoshi Nakamoto through email, but the email or emails in question have never been made public.
