Gavin Wood

Gavin Wood worked as the Ethereum Project’s co-founder and chief technology officer. He created and wrote the first working Ethereum implementation in addition to co-designing the Ethereum Protocol and writing its formal specification. The Whisper protocol was created and implemented by Gavin Wood, who also created and oversaw the Solidity programming language and served as the IDE’s project manager. He co-founded multiple technological start-ups and advanced the “state-of-the-art” in programming languages and analytical tools.

Gavin Wood has delivered keynote addresses at local technology conferences and Harvard lectures on the potential of legal systems to various audiences all around the world. He graduated with a Ph.D. in computer science from York University.
