Pure Proof of Stake (PPoS)

A Permissionless Consensus Mechanism known as PURE PROOF OF STAKE, which is unique to the Algorand Blockchain, enables full participation, blockchain safety, and fast transfer rates in a genuinely decentralized network.

This protocol differs from Proof of Stake in that validators are chosen to participate not just based on the consistency of their stake, or the quantity of $ALGO they own, but also at random, regardless of how many coins they own.

They are chosen automatically using a Verifiable Random Function. The VRF operates similarly to a weighted lottery; in practice, each participant would receive a separate lottery ticket for each $ALGO in their account.
