Proof-of-Spacetime

Proof-of-spacetime (PoSt), which is frequently used in connection with Filecoin, is a technique by which a storage miner demonstrates that they are keeping a special piece of data for the network.

PoSt and proof-of-capacity are comparable in a number of aspects, including the requirement that network users have a financial incentive to behave honestly and have no profit from destabilizing the network. PoSt, on the other hand, is unique in that it enables network users to demonstrate that they have been physically storing data for a given amount of time. This is demonstrated by selecting randomly picked miners and reading their data for verifications.
