What is Binary Code?

The simplest form of programming data that a computer can directly understand is binary code. It is composed of a sequence of 0s and 1s that has been formatted and ordered to be received and processed as a component of a larger computer application.

It emerges from a multi-phase composition process that transforms source code written in a high-level language, such as C or Java, into machine code specific to the processor architecture on which the computer application runs. It can be thought of as the core language of the computer and was created from source code that can be read by humans.
