What is Black Swan Event?
In its simplest form, a Black Swan event is an unexpected occurrence that has a big impact.
The Black Swan Theory, also known as the Theory of Black Swan Events, has its roots in a Latin phrase uttered in the second century by the Roman poet Juvenal, who would describe something as: “rara avis in terris nigroque simillima cygno”. The English translation of this Latin phrase is “an unusual bird in the regions and somewhat resembling a black swan.” When this expression was originally used, it was believed that black swans didn’t exist.
