Ransomware
What is Ransomware
A malicious application known as crypto-ransomware encrypts files on a computer or mobile device in order to demand payment. The contents of a file are “scrambled” via encryption, rendering them unintelligible. The file must be “unscrambled” in order to be restored for regular use.
The files are essentially held captive by crypto-ransomware, which demands a ransom in exchange for the decryption key required to restore the contents.
