Digital Twins

A digital twin is a representation of a physical product, procedure, or service in the digital world. It could be anything from a jet engine, or wind farm, to larger objects like a building or even an entire city. The digital twin technology may be used to duplicate processes in order to gather data and forecast their performance, in addition to physical assets.

Basically, a digital twin is a computer program that simulates how a process or product will work using data from the real world. To improve the output, these systems can use artificial intelligence, software analytics, and the internet of things (Industry 4.0).
