Software Wallet
A software wallet is a type of cryptocurrency wallet that is based on software and can be downloaded as a desktop or laptop computer program, accessible through a website, or installed as a mobile app.
The private keys, which are required to access the cryptocurrencies, are stored in the app itself. The software wallet is encrypted to protect your private keys and typically needs a password to access the wallet and the data it contains. The digital assets are not kept in wallets.
The blockchain, which stores your digital assets and any transactions connected to your wallet address, is only accessible through wallets. Desktop wallets, mobile wallets, and web wallets are all examples of software wallets, and MetaMask is a popular software wallet.
