Sybil Attack

What is Sybil Attack

A Sybil Attack is when a malevolent actor makes numerous fake accounts to impersonate actual users. Because of the method, the system has a hard time figuring out how many users are actually present on the network.

The attacker must create numerous identities on the network that they will use to impersonate legitimate users in order to start a Sybil attack. The next step is for them to log into an existing account on the network and pretend to be that user. This is accomplished by stealing their password or email address.

This kind of attack aims to exploit other users by impersonating them and utilizing their login information to access digital assets. For instance, someone might set up an account with a high reputation score to make it appear as though they have more resources or fans than they actually do.
